Everyone has a dream. Dreams to achieve something, to be something, to do something, but the sad reality is that not everyone gets to see their dreams come to live for several reasons.
Some people give up on their dreams when the going gets tough. Some give up because of the time it will take to accomplish it. Others are not just committed enough to make the necessary sacrifices and do what it takes.
It is people like these who give up on their dreams that their dreams give up on them, and they are many. Don’t want to be in the number? Then wake up and get to work!
In 1919, a guy called Walter was fired from his job because his editor said he “lacked imagination and had no good ideas.” This guy later went on to establish a company called “Walt Disney” with 220,000 employees as of 2022.
Imagine if Walter Elias Disney had believed the editor…
Sometimes, people make us feel our dreams don’t matter, or are unrealistic, or that we don’t have what it takes to achieve them.
That’s okay. Imagine the Wright brothers telling their friends in 1903 that they were going to build something that flies; it must have seemed unimaginable to those friends.
Sometimes, we are our only cheerleaders. Sometimes, it’s tough for others to see a possibility in the future the way we do.
Don’t get discouraged that your dream isn’t getting approval or support just yet. Sometimes, people need to see a thing work, for them to believe that it can.

Also, don’t get bitter. Instead, do these 4 things to bring your dreams to life:
- Start from Your Source
You want to ask God for guidance and insight to making the right moves that align with His will and plans for your life.
You also want to ask God to equip you with grace and wisdom for the journey ahead. You want to ask Him to send the right people to support you. People of good character, skills, and resources that you need to thrive. You need people who would believe in your vision even though they can’t see it yet.
God is faithful and He will answer your prayer. He will send helpers your way and connect you with people that will help you fulfil your life’s purpose.
2. Communicate Your Vision Clearly
Sometimes, the issue is not that people don’t want to believe in our dreams, but that we aren’t communicating the vision clearly.
Consider this: Are you explaining your vision simply enough to make those you want on your team to see its possibility and benefits?
Are there examples, analogies, stories, pictures, or videos, that you can use to communicate your vision clearly? Think about these things.
3. Put in The Work
What do you need to achieve your dreams? Skills? The right people? Money or other resources?
Find out the skills and knowledge you need to achieve your dreams and goals. Learn those skills and become good at them.
The more you work on your dreams with your skills, the more experience you gain. Though the journey will be tough, keep at it and keep putting in the work.

Learn how to network and build relationships with relevant people. Research places and events – online and physically – where you can meet and connect with the people you need to achieve your dreams.
Prayerfully and diligently look for ways to raise the money or resources you need. It is advisable to build capital by offering products and/or services in getting the funds and resources you need to fulfil your dreams.
You can always seek other options such as borrowing from friends and relatives or getting loans from banks and other reputable organizations. But these options must be considered prudently.
In all, the responsibility is on you to give your dreams the efforts it takes to make them a reality.
4. Be Resilient and Press On
Like a tree weathering a raging storm, you must be steadfast till the very end. There will be difficulties, frustrations, and disappointments along the way of fulfilling your dreams, but you must stay resolute.
Those deep longings that God put in your heart are worth chasing, regardless of people’s initial indifference or pushbacks. Don’t back down at the slightest challenge in your way. Whatever is worth having is worth fighting for.
Keep pressing on and don’t stop trying until you achieve your God-given dreams. Soon, you would look back seeing how far you’ve come and would be glad you fought for something worth fighting for – your dreams.
