The Driver’s Code

A good driver will always ensure their passengers get to their destinations. And to the Indian movie that scripted this statement which I have conceptualized differently, Namaste!

Just as the driver has a sense of duty with a choice to fulfill it or not, so do the passengers with the liberty to discontinue the trip and seek another ride to their destinations. To the driver and passengers on a journey, let each observe what pleases the soul but let it ensue from a clear and good conscience before God and Man.

And here’s where I couldn’t stop to wonder:

Life is a journey and imagine the circumference of your own life to be a car, you’re the driver, and the people in your life are the passengers. When what defines you and what defines them collide and the differences expose the frailty of emotions, and emotions become an outburst of invectives, and you curse and you fight and you break things and trust, do you leave the car or do you push out the passengers or do you stay right there in the heat of the moment, wait for the steam to cool and work out understanding from the silence to communication to forgiveness and reconciliation?

The perfect ones are not yet born. We all err, and in this journey to living the good life, there will always come several times when adversity is required to test the fiber of our beings, to stretch the cords of bond with the people in our lives, and to reveal the man and woman we are becoming. It is in those moments that we must allow our humanity to prevail and stay humble.

We’re stuck with each other on this earth until winter comes and our leaves wither, and they relieve the branches of their burdens and return to the source. But for a brief moment we have with each other, let’s savor it and make it count.

Those who do wrong do not know better and hopefully, the light of truth will catch up with them, uncover the darkness of their days, and lead them to the stream of living waters to cleanse their spirit, soul, and body.

And if you know better, do better, be better, live right. Do it anyway and keep doing it. And someday, the seeds you sow will find their way back to you, whether in this life or another.
